Autumn 1 2019-2020

Hello and welcome to Year 5! My name is Miss McTeague and I will be your child’s teacher this year. Our teaching assistant will be Miss Grundy.  We hope that you had a lovely summer holiday and welcome back to school!

Please note the following information and curriculum for the Autumn 1 half term in Year 5.

P.E. days

P.E. is on

Tuesday  - Outdoor invasion games with Mr Lindsay

Wednesday – Indoors

Please can you check that your child has all the correct P.E. kit and that it is in class ASAP for this half term..

If your chid attends sports club, please ensure they bring their P.E. kit back to school the following day.

School P.E kit:

Black shorts and/or jogging bottoms (for indoor and outdoor P.E.)

A white t-shirt

Black pumps or black trainers

P.E kits should be in school for the full half term and will be returned for washing at the end of each half term.

It is a HUGE help if names are on ALL items, including P.E bags! Many thanks in advance J

Spellings

Spellings will be sent home on a Thursday for a spelling test the following Thursday.

Time stables

It is a National Curriculum requirement that all children should know their times tables up to 12 x 12 – as well as the division facts. Times tables test will take place on a Tuesday.

Reading

As part of their home learning, children are expected to practise their reading for 10minutes at least 3 times a week

(Parents/Carers to sign their reading record and note down any comments)

Children will receive x1 raffle ticket for 3 signatures and x2 raffle tickets for more than 3 signatures in one week for our reading raffle on a Friday. Children will visit the library each Friday to change their library books.

Please continue to support your child in practising their reading at home has this has a HUGE impact on their overall progress. 😊.

Many thanks,

Miss K McTeague (Year 5 Teacher)

Miss J Grundy (Year 5 Teaching Assistant)
