We have also been practising and improving our art skills by drawing self portraits in the style of the illustrator Rob Biddulph.

Further Maths activities/ideas
❤️❤️ Be KIND to yourself! ❤️❤️
Here are some well being activities for you to try this week...
Previous week’s learning tasks (Archive)
Lesson 1: (If you have not already done this!) : Read the ebook below about returning to school, as I know that some children in Year 1 will have started to talk about and prepare to return to school.
Read the story together and discuss what you have been doing during lockdown and how the story is similar.
Discuss any thoughts and feelings you and the children may have about returning to school.
Ask the children to talk about and write down, with your help, any worries they may have and pop them into your worry monster (craft activity below!)
Discuss any worries they may have as you write them down together.
Children can also share any questions/worries they have with me via email and I will reply to them.
This is also a good chance to practise computer skills and sending emails!
Keep up your amazing work together at home
& THANK YOU for your support
This week I would like you to talk about the importance of staying safe in the sun! ☀️
Read the ebook below and have a discussion about what we need to do to stay safe in the sun.
Once you have had a discussion write down any questions and spend some time to talk about them.
It is important that children have the chance to speak about how they are feeling and time to talk to you about any questions they may have.
For your activity, I would love to see a video of you singing sammy seagulls song and even making up your own dance actions!
Or you could draw a poster about sun safety! ☀️😎☀️
Please see below details of our topics for the summer 1 term

🌟Keep up the fantastic learning at home🌟
💖🌈PHSCE Topic - Staying safe and people who help us🌈💖
For this topic I thought it would be a really good opportunity to talk to the children about doctors and nurses and everyone else in our community who are helping us during this time.
Please see attached activity below - sentences that the children can copy out onto a piece of paper and fill in the missing words of people who help us.
I think it would also be a nice idea to make a thank you poster for people who help us. The children can choose anyone who they think help us and keep us safe, nurses, firefighters, police, parents, teachers, waste collectors, the list is endless! Please email a picture of their posters for our class page.
Learning task: To add numbers to make 10

⭐️ Year 1 News ⭐️
Thank you to all our families for your support over the past few weeks. We are really going to miss having the children in school.
Please continue to check our class page here and the Kids' Zone (KS1) page for weekly messages and updates regarding home learning resources and how to help your child to continue to make progress during our school closure.
The National Phonics Screening Check for Year 1, that was due to commence in June 2020, has now been cancelled. Therefore you do not need to continue to practise the 'alien' words as previously requested. Please can children work on their phonics and reading skills by using the reading eggs app, watching and joining in with the daily phonics lessons from Mr Mc (links on the Kids' Zone page for KS1) and sharing books together.
If you need any support at all, or you have any questions, please email the office or follow and message me directly via twitter @misstaylorY1
We are still here for you! Thank you :)
Exciting news for reading in Year 1!
Year 1 now have the opportunity to practise their reading skills and have lots of fun by using the Reading Eggs online games.
Click below link for more information!
Year 1 is an important and exciting year for the children. It is the first year of Key Stage 1 and a time where children become more independent as they make a gradual change from a play-based enhanced provision to a more formal style of learning.
Useful websites for interactive phonics games and videos
In Year 1, children will have lots of opportunities to practise their phonics, reading, writing and mathematics.
They will be able to investigate and answer questions through our science, history and geography topics.
Our topics include learning about toys from the past, discovering new authors such as Sue Hendra, reading Supertato and learning all about Florence Nightingale.
I am sure the children will have lots of fun as they learn.
In Year 1 we also love to learn in a creative way! Children will experiment with many types of media to express their creativity, including painting, drawing, building and using technology.
We will also introduce children in Year 1 to the Arts Award!
