2020 Safer Internet Day - Tuesday 11th February

2020 Safer Internet Day - Tuesday 11th February 1
On Safer Internet Day we had a special lesson about how to stay safe online. We already knew some facts about how to stay safe online as one of our PSHE topics was ‘E-Safety’. We discussed different scenarios that could happen online (such as ‘I used my real photo on my profile’) and then we had to stand at the comment we thought matched the scenario, such as ‘It’s ok’, ‘I’m not sure’ or ‘That’s not ok’. We then talked about why we choose those answers and what the right thing to do would be. We finished the lesson by making posters about online safety rules.

Pirate Job Applications

As part of our Literacy topic linked to the book 'Treasure Island', we have had fun applying for pirate jobs! Last week we looked at the different types of jobs available on a typical pirate ship. Then we started to write our job applications. mailWe have used persuasive writing techniques to try to convince the Captain of the pirate ship 'The Hispaniola' to give us a job on board the ship. Some of us have used very persuasive language. Who will be successful?yes Who will get the job they applied for? Who will end up scrubbing the decks?! noWho may end up walking the plank?frown

27/11/19.  Electric Circuits

Today Year 4 completed some brilliant Science work on Electric Circuits. Their task was to build a circuit that would control a propeller. This is linked to our DT topic of making Spitfire planes, which in turn is linked to our History and Literacy topic of World War 2. With minimal help, all children quickly realised they would need to add a motor and a switch to their circuits in order to make the propeller spin round and a switch to stop and start the propeller. Well done! We have lots of budding scientists in Year 4!

26/11/19 R.E - Muslim Family Life

Today Year 4 had a brilliant and very informative lesson on what is like to be a Muslim child going to Mosque. The lesson was lead by Maryam and Haroon sharing their experience of mosque. Haroon read a part of the Qu’ran in Arabic and Maryam showed us how she prays and recited a prayer she had learnt off-by-heart in Arabic. Everyone was very impressed and asked lots of questions. We finished the lesson by designing information posters on the iPads, using the Picollage App, detailing what we had learned during the lesson.
